Lulu's big day

Lulu had a couple of firsts today. For as long as we can remember, Lulu has been fascinated with trains and buses. When ever we see a train, the max or the street car Lulu says "Lulu whoo-hoo" over and over again with desperation in her voice. She has a similar reaction when she sees a yellow school bus. Well, she finally got a ride on the street car. She took a round trip which took about an hour. She absolutely loved it. She kept making the whoo-hoo sound and pointing out vehicles/tractors that she had at home. She had a smile on her face the whole time. Also, this evening before dinner, we decided it would be a good time to transition her crib into the next phase. Kind of like a day bed with safety rails. Greg changed it out while we watched. After it was done we invited her to check it out. At first she was a bit hesitant, but when she figured out that she could get in and out by herself, she got very excited. We called it her new big girl bed. She kept talking about it all night. When we got her upstairs after the bath and read to her, she was excited about the "new bed". She went down without a problem, but after a few minutes she was calling for us. She sounded a little distressed, so Greg thought she might need a little help with the transition and so he camped out on the floor next to her bed until she fell asleep. What an awesome Dad. By helping her with a gentle transition she felt a lot more confident going to sleep. I'm sure she will go back to going asleep on her own soon. No hurry. Should be interesting to see what the morning holds. We'll see!

An example of the street car that Lulu rode on. Whoo-hoo!
